A mature Bart looks back on his life when his heartstrings are pulled once again when Mary Spuckler returns to Springfield, but his failure to pay her enough attention strains their relationship. Marge, too, puts Homer in the dog house after not going to a travel bookstore soft opening with her. Homer, along with Bart and a few other displaced husbands living at the Brokewood Apartments, decide to watch some British movies to figure out a way to win back their wives.
Homer falls out of Marge’s grace for “…not going to a travel bookstore soft opening with her.” …That’s pretty specific. I guess generally being a bad husband isn’t doing it any more.
Why are they having Mary return AGAIN? I guess it’s because they’re trying to capitalize on the popularity of “New Girl”, but it still seems so bizarre.
From half the description it sound like it’s one of them future episodes, although the other half doesn’t stick to it.
They keep bringing up Mary Spuckler as if she was some big life-changing love for Bart but I can’t even remember the episode where they first met. And didn’t they reunite a last season as well?
These Bart romances are completely interesting. Jessica Lovejoy and Laura Powers, now there are some interesting love-stories!

Uhhh…OK? Not sure where they’re going with that. Probably nowhere.
I remember that first episode with her. They weren’t in love at all and Cletus wanted them married against their will. She also looks totally different in that episode. But who’s watching, right?
This episode was apparently such a stinker that the apologists at the AV Club gave it a D. And the reviewer basically said it was on par with Family Guy with a flagrant overuse of pop culture references and Woody Allen.
I have to say that it almost makes me interested in seeing it… I mean can you be worse than your typical Zombie Simpsons episode?
Just watched it. My synopsis: best of the season so far.
Pros: liked Woody Allen impersonation, although it wasn’t really him and why Bart was dressed like him (and both appearing at the same time) was kinda weird. Also, good heartland rock jokes, not so bad hillbilly jokes and mediocre use of Deschanel’s voice.
Cons: the whole Homer and Marge breaking up idea. Pointless and incontinent, even for a Valentine episode. Also, this episode for once deserved a well wound-up ending, not jug blowing. There are just too many plotholes the show has left since they re-introduced older Mary, instead of emphasizing on that they just play the whole hackneyed Bart dumps another girl who loves him theme. Even since his relationship with Jessica Lovejoy, which was of course a classic, there could at least be one other plot featuring similar elements (they do it all the time anyway). Instead, it still ends with punch drunk love.
