Quote of the Day

One Fish, Two Fish, Blowfish, Blue Fish4

“What would you recommend for a family that’s not sure they should be here?” – Marge Simpson
“The ‘Sushi Surprise’, a little bit of everything.  It is very non-threatening.” – Akira

Happy Birthday George Takei!

What would this episode be like in the modern Simpsons?
First we’d need something wacky so they’d end up in the Sushi place.
Then Homer thinks he’s going to die so does a lot of crazy stunts.
Finally, just as he’s motorbiking through the ring of fire, his watch bleeps signifying it’s his time to go.
But to his surprise he makes the jump and promises never to endanger his life again in the same way. Then he eats a lot of fatty food because it’s just so hilarious in every episode that someone says something ironic.

It would get 5/5 on No Homers and probably a few saying “best of this season”.

And to add to your summary, the Master Chef would come in and apologise to the customers and especially to Homer for having been using his skilled hands in the car instead of in the kitchen.

Don’t forget, the family eating at a Japanese restaurant would be a pretext for a wacky 3 or 4-minute montage set to the song “Turning Japanese.”

And maybe one of the chefs could have a daughter for Bart to fall in love with.

I like to think they have gotten over their musical montage fixture but then again, it does pop up now and again.
There would definitely be a list joke with the menu, though.

…and when Homer doesn’t die, he’ll go back and try to blow up the place.

…and while he’s doing that he’ll alternate between muttering darkly and screaming loudly.

Throw in some references to Moe being sensitive and/or depressed, along with a gratuitous celebrity cameo (maybe Simon Cowell for the 23rd time) and hot dog, we have a wiener!
