To say that this episode made a perfect parody on both horribly defensive football tactics and american audiences would be an understatement.

Yeah. Too bad they abandoned it for an “anti-gun” episode that came off as very wishy-washy over whether it stood on the subject. It’s bad form when a Saturday morning cartoon like “Gargoyles” can do an anti-gun episode that has a mature message to it (“Guns are only dangerous if you don’t know how to handle them”). This episode’s moral was pretty much “People like Homer shouldn’t have guns,” which is also a good point, but we’ve seen Homer with guns before and Marge not objecting (heck, she even had a gun on that episode where she becomes a cop after knocking Snake out in an alley).

What I’m trying to say is: a Saturday morning cartoon (the one TV target The Simpsons mocks) can do a better job at social satire than this dreck.

I will agree that the change of focus of the episode, in retrospect, feels a bit contrived. But as simple as the moral of the episode was, I didn’t mind the “anti-gun” angle. To me it wasn’t making fun of stupid people who use guns, but rather how EASY it is in America for stupid people to get guns.

Besides, I would argue this is probably the funniest episode of the season.

I agree on the wishy-washy and inconsistently humorous nature of this episode, but I’m glad there was something said of both sides. Too bad the part showing the argument of the pro-gun side (Moe, Lenny, etc. pointing at Snake) had little humor in it and came across more as preachy, unlike the rest of the episode.

Um… It’s simply a parody of American gun culture and how obsessive we are over guns. A great episode btw.

Now I see why Homer became zombified after Season 9.
