Quote of the Day

Homer the Smithers13

“Welcome, welcome, welcome to an evening of exciting quarter mile action, action, action!  Our first race is a benefit for daredevil Lance Murdock, Murdock, Murdock, who’s hospitalized with cirrhosis of the liver, liver, liver!” – Springfield Dragway Announcer

I love the irony. Lance Murdock survived breaking every bone in his body, and now he’s in the hospital for cirrhosis, of all things. Another joke I never really caught before.

Did Lance Murdock ever come back after this? Something tells me he died offscreen with no explanation, like Dr. Marvin Monroe. And considering that the real-world celebrity he’s based on, Evel Kneival, is dead, this isn’t a surprise.

Where’s his nacho hat? That novelty thing was hilarious.
