Does Sideshow Bob not know that Ned and Maude have kids, because after this part, he immediately lists everyone in The Simpson family save Bart. I can probably chalk this up to a writer error, since this episode was the last one with some of the originals and they pretty much made this episode somewhat wacky as a “Who cares? The show will probably end soon ( yeah fucking right) and we gotta make it as silly as possible” gesture.
I guess it’s only part of his list; after all, they’re the only two houses in the ‘neighbourhood’ we hear about.
Or maybe he doesn’t know: “That little baby Simpson…
That is all.”
I always assumed Bob did list Rod and Todd; we just didn’t hear it.
There were a few instances of the early episodes having minor issues and headscratching moments. Think about “Homer’s Oddysey”: how exactly is the later part of the episode related to the original plot (Homer being fired and trying to find another job)? Heck, if the family was supposed to be poor and with barely any money saved in the bank, how could they still pay for their everyday needs?
Even at its peak years, the show never said if Homer’s job as a monorrail conductor was compatible with his job at SNPP, or what the heck happened while Homer was in India or in space. But since those were very very very minor issues, they didn’t really matter.
Also, btw, the Flanders and Simpsons families weren’t the only families in the neightborhood. What about the Powers family?
But gladly I would prefer those issues than side characters beinng crammed for no reason (they started doing that in Season 8), or Lisa misidentifying Burns as Santa Claus and not asking Grampa and Bart why the fuck there’s a giant hole in one of her walls. Ugh.
But Maude died anyway.
BTW, I bet in the “Bob kills Bart” gimmick upcoming this Halloween, they will probably go with another a la MacFartlane shitplot with Lisa resurrecting Bart after some scientific experiment, then turns out he was never dead, then Milhouse is dead, aaaand we end up with Homer getting hurt some more.
