I’ve always liked this quote for a few reasons. A lesser show would’ve used this shoddy vessel for Homer and Bart getting stranded, but Simpsons just goes ahead and sinks that weak plot device immediately, while saving their much stronger backing for later (Homer being such a blowhard, he believes that the current will take them back to land).

There’s also the fact that Flanders wouldn’t willingly go on such a shoddy vessel, but being quickly brushed aside by Homer while trying to use the oars? This also keeps very true to the characters as well.

This is one of my favourite McAllister lines. There is no grace, no excuses, no hiding away and certainly no denial from the man himself that he is anything other than an embarrassment. Season 5 was great as it had the zany stuff but kept it grounded by the show constantly pointing out how utterly preposterous everything around it truly was (ala a more subtle Deadpool).

“Arrr” rather than “argh”, surely. Blunder, fired, etc.

I love the blank look on Homer’s face when the boat sinks. Reminds me of his expression during the Hello Mr Thompson bit.
