Second the typo said above.
Also, I never thought of this until now, but I think the “admiral” thing might be a reference to the fact that Jim Morrison, lead singer of the Doors, also had a father who was a rear admiral in the Navy. They both also didn’t get along.
Or it could just be mere coincidence. Who knows?
It’s funny how, for a show where the writers have admitted to not caring much about inter-episode continuity, little details here and there still end up sticking. Eight seasons later in “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Marge”, Otto’s dad shows up to his son’s wedding, and sure enough, he’s a naval admiral in full uniform. A character based on a two-second one-off joke from almost 200 episodes prior.
