Run a Simpsons site or Twitter account? Let us know!
Even though it’s obvious to anyone with a functional frontal lobe and a shred of morality, we feel the need to include this disclaimer. This website (which openly advocates for the cancellation of a beloved television series) is in no way, shape or form affiliated with the FOX Network, the News Corporation, subsidiaries thereof, or any of Rupert Murdoch’s wives or children. “The Simpsons” is (unfortunately) the intellectual property of FOX. We and our crack team of one (1) lawyer believe that everything on this site falls under the definition of Fair Use and is protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. No revenue is generated from this endeavor; we’re here because we love “The Simpsons”. And besides, you can’t like, own a potato, man, it’s one of Mother Earth’s creatures.
The irritated old man looks pretty funny.
Like the expressions on the other Simpsons too. Marge looks annoyed but unsurprised, Lisa can’t bear to watch, Maggie just stares, and Bart looks on with enthusiasm.
Yeah, I love that they took the time to give each of them a different, appropriate expression.
Jerkass Homer begins!
Yeah, I always thought this was rather foreboding, Homer enjoying deliberately pissing people off. It helps that he immediately gets his comeuppance, though.
Jerkass Homer would rarely have any consequence to his behavior, while as stated before Homer almost immediately gets his comeuppance here; it’s not the same thing here.
That no one fights him even as he sticks ice cream cones on them is something so foreign and entertaining to him that he takes it to its logical conclusion. Also, Homer seems to hold a certain, almost childlike, fascination and glee about it all…until the donkey kicks him, of course.
It’s kind of the same concept as something like a (likely American) tourist trying to get a reaction out of a guard at Buckingham Palace.
Jerkass Homer is way worse than this Homer or “Lisa on Ice” Homer. You’re ignoring the context.
Actually, I’m referring to Homer calling himself a jerk, and there being an ass in the same scene!
I love the little detail of the ice cream cone flying out of his hands as he gets kicked away.
And the ones on the donkey fly off too.
Oooh, I didn’t notice that!
With everyone bringing up Jerkass Homer, I wonder what Charlie & co think about how Brian from Family Guy started out as the ‘voice of reason’ at first, then after that faded away, he started to become more & more of a straw-man chew toy for the writers to relentlessly gnaw on in order to assuage their guilty conscience about MacFarlane’s political leanings.
I always thought that Brian was made into more of a hypocrite/contrarian to counter accusations that he was MacFarlane’s Mary Sue.
Of course, since that show is now just a bunch of horrible people being horrible to each other, why should the dog be any different?
Yeah that too. Prolly directly related.
