Run a Simpsons site or Twitter account? Let us know!
Even though it’s obvious to anyone with a functional frontal lobe and a shred of morality, we feel the need to include this disclaimer. This website (which openly advocates for the cancellation of a beloved television series) is in no way, shape or form affiliated with the FOX Network, the News Corporation, subsidiaries thereof, or any of Rupert Murdoch’s wives or children. “The Simpsons” is (unfortunately) the intellectual property of FOX. We and our crack team of one (1) lawyer believe that everything on this site falls under the definition of Fair Use and is protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. No revenue is generated from this endeavor; we’re here because we love “The Simpsons”. And besides, you can’t like, own a potato, man, it’s one of Mother Earth’s creatures.
Aw man, this is depressing. I was hoping we’d have him around for a few more years to come.
God speed you glorious S.O.B.
So, did they actually have him in to record his lines? I was always curious about this.
Of course they didn’t have to, they could’ve used the same speech engine he used, but I think out of sheer respect (and not wanting to get totally sue’d) they got him into the studio anyway.
Fun fact: If I recall correctly, it took him about a minute to speak 6 words using his fancy computer do-dad. Obviously less time using the most used pre-sets he’d have lined up, but longer if it was something a little off topic or unusual.
Interesting if true.
Why couldn’t they use the same speech engine?
His “voice” was copyrighted.
lol really? copyright/patent trolls will never stop surprising me
Right… because a world renowned physicist wanting his distinct electronic voice copyrighted is a “troll”. Don’t be an idiot.
I fail to see why would Hawking need to protect the voice, if he was the copyright owner. And just because he was a famous scientific does not mean he wasn’t flawless. In fact he was a shitty person.
From what I’ve heard, he had kind of an abrasive personality at times, maybe made a few poor decisions, but he was far from being a “shitty” person. You want to stop throwing stones there, “Todd”?
That’s not the reason why I think he was shitty.
Sir, don’t you think you’ve argued enough?
Lol Gabbo, if people ask me something or insult me or accuse me for no reason I can see or understand, I reply. It’s not a matter of replying too much.
Larry Flynt is right!
You know, I never knew who Larry Flynt was until I just now googled him, and now this line is 10 times funnier to me.
Ralph Wiggum is great and all but Homer somehow confusing him with Hawking is my favorite Simpsons non-sequitur
According to some notes the word “fruitopia” gave them trouble.
