I’ve noticed that as of lately more and more of the quotes of the day don’t stand that well by themselves. They require a screen shot for context and others don’t have nearly the same impact as when heard aloud, such as the “Hello Mr. Thompson” scene. I suppose that after nearly 10 years of this site’s existence and 248 episodes to take from there’s only so far you can go. I really hope that there’s not going to be a day where every quotable line from the first eleven seasons has been used and DHS still hasn’t completed it’s mission of seeing Zombie Simpsons finally end. I’m still hopeful that the show will end in December 2019. I’ve long figured that the reason the show kept going, churning out one forgettable episode after another, was to break the Gunsmoke record and now it has. There aren’t any other notable milestones the show could reach that would not take for decades. Even as deluded as Al Jean is with thinking the show is as good as it’s even been I’m sure he realizes that his show isn’t going to outlive news programs, game shows, talk shows, and day time soap operas that have been around since television began. But who knows?
There are over 200 episodes for Charlie to pull quotes from, and only 365 days a year. I’m sure it’ll be fine.
If the average quote lasts about, lets say, 15 seconds and the average episode is about 22 minuets that means there are around 88 quotes per show. Times 248 shows that works out to about another 50 years worth of material. Hopefully ZS will be long dead before the quote of the day is, “Hello?” with a screen shot of someone picking up a phone.
