Run a Simpsons site or Twitter account? Let us know!
Even though it’s obvious to anyone with a functional frontal lobe and a shred of morality, we feel the need to include this disclaimer. This website (which openly advocates for the cancellation of a beloved television series) is in no way, shape or form affiliated with the FOX Network, the News Corporation, subsidiaries thereof, or any of Rupert Murdoch’s wives or children. “The Simpsons” is (unfortunately) the intellectual property of FOX. We and our crack team of one (1) lawyer believe that everything on this site falls under the definition of Fair Use and is protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. No revenue is generated from this endeavor; we’re here because we love “The Simpsons”. And besides, you can’t like, own a potato, man, it’s one of Mother Earth’s creatures.
It’s a great callback when you see his reaction to the fact that Luann Van Houten was taking them.
She was taking clothes from the donation box. That wasn’t a callback.
Sounds to me like you missed the joke Ryan.
Lovejoy complained his coat was stolen at a banquet. Luanne admitted to taking clothes from the church’s donation box. Please tell me how they are related, or what joke I missed.
In case you’re actually being serious, it stands to reason that she wasn’t just taking clothes from the donation box, but possibly other places as well, and Lovejoy’s reaction seems to confirm it. He thought his coat was stolen by someone, possibly of another religion, at the interfaith banquet, so he retaliated (in a most un-christian fashion, since I’m spelling out the joke here) by stealing a couple of nice umbrellas.
Then later, once Luann admits to stealing clothes from the church donation box (it being implied that she’s doing this out of necessity because Kirk isn’t making enough money to support them and she’s too ashamed to ask for help, although she is borrowing money from her sister), Lovejoy reacts the way he does because he just put two and two together and figured out that she was the one who most likely took his coat, and he had “retaliated” against some completely innocent people (which… he pretty much did anyway), so there’s the joke for you. It’s possible I could be a little mixed up, but his reaction doesn’t seem to make much sense otherwise, especially in connection with what he said earlier.
…want to dispute this Ryan?
I don’t get the Ryan meme. Is it just a name for anyone who disagrees here?
Why would you just assume Luanne stole his jacket because she takes clothes intended for the poor from the donation box? There’s a huge difference between stealing from a box intended for being free clothes, to actually stealing someone’s actual jacket.
This argument is risoculous. She did not steal Lovejoy’s jacket, there is no implication.
Ignore Gabbo. But I think there is an implication; Lovejoy thinking the thief was from another religion, but it was Luan. Although now that I think about it, why woukd Luan be at the interfaith banquet?
It’s because Ryan started trolling and making dumb comments, then started trying to do it anonymously when we called him on it.
And yes, the implication is there, and there are any number of reasons why she might have attended the banquet, but if you don’t believe me, suit yourself.
Ig…ignore Gabbo?…
